AUM or OM holds major significance in Hinduism. This symbol is a sacred syllable that symbolizes Brahman, the impersonal Absolute of Hinduism - omnipotent, omnipresent, and the source of all manifest existence. Brahman, being incomprehensible in itself, necessitates a symbol to aid in understanding the Unknowable.
